The client

Trends GH is a Ghanaian digital media outlet publishing breaking news and trending stories on politics, entertainment and social media.

The problem

News that trends one hour is old the next. Trends GH needed a website that publishes quickly, stays fast when traffic spikes on a popular story, works well for readers on smartphones, and helps readers find the categories they follow.

Our approach

We researched how readers move through news content, designed categorised feeds and a mobile-first layout, and built the website with caching, image optimisation and integrations that help keep content fresh. Search-engine best practices and meta-tagging were built in from the start.

How our approach solved it

  1. Problem 1

Breaking and trending stories lose value if they are slow to publish.

    How we solved it

API integrations that support timely content updates, so new stories go live quickly.

  2. Problem 2

Traffic spikes on popular stories can slow a news site down.

    How we solved it

Caching and image optimisation for fast page loads.

  3. Problem 3

Most readers follow the news on their phones.

    How we solved it

A mobile-first layout optimised for reading on smartphones.

  4. Problem 4

Readers follow particular topics and need to find them quickly.

    How we solved it

Categorised feeds with dedicated sections for politics, entertainment and trends.

  5. Problem 5

Stories have to be found through search to reach new readers.

    How we solved it

A search-friendly structure and meta-tagging, built in from the start.

What we delivered

  • Categorised feeds. Dedicated sections for politics, entertainment and trends.
  • Mobile-first design. A layout optimised for readers on smartphones.
  • Integrations. API integrations that support timely content updates.
  • Performance. Caching and image optimisation for fast page loads.
  • SEO foundations. Search-friendly structure and meta-tagging.
