The client
Ghana Peace Journal is a Ghanaian online publication reporting on the work of the country's security agencies, defence affairs, and peace and security in the region.
The problem
The journal publishes a steady flow of articles across several sections. Without a clear structure, a growing archive becomes hard to browse, readers leave after one story, and reporting does not reach people beyond the existing audience. The publication needed a website that organised its sections clearly, kept readers moving between stories, made articles easy to share, and helped them be found through search, on any device.
Our approach
We designed a clean editorial layout with clear sections, featured stories and article listings, and built it to adapt to phones, tablets and desktops. We added sharing tools and search-engine foundations so each story can reach a wider audience.
How our approach solved it
Problem 1
A large and growing archive of articles across several sections was hard to browse.
How we solved it
An editorial layout with section pages, featured stories and article listings that make the archive easy to navigate.
Problem 2
Readers left after a single story.
How we solved it
Featured stories and article listings throughout the site that lead readers on to the next story.
Problem 3
Stories needed to spread beyond the journal's existing readers.
How we solved it
Built-in social sharing so readers can pass articles on across social platforms.
Problem 4
Reporting was hard to find through search engines.
How we solved it
Search-engine foundations (SEO practices across the site) so the journal's reporting can be found through search.
Problem 5
Readers arrive on phones, tablets and desktops.
How we solved it
A responsive design that keeps reading comfortable on every screen size.
