Social Media Content Calendar

Between 4 and 13 weeks (about three months).

Objectives

Objectives shape the mix of formats and how often posts promote something (never more than one in five).

Platforms and posts a week

Check that each format suits your account: platforms set their own rules for features such as live video and polls.

Content pillars

The themes you post about in rotation. Suggestions change with the type of business.

Up to four, one per line. Use between two and eight pillars in total.

Mark these days on the calendar

The calendar is created in your browser. Your choices are not sent to our server or stored.

How to use the Social Media Content Calendar

  1. 1 Choose your type of business, your objectives and the month to start.
  2. 2 Tick your platforms and enter how many times a week you post on each.
  3. 3 Keep the suggested content pillars, untick any you do not need, or add your own.
  4. 4 Create the calendar, then download it as a CSV or calendar file, or print it.
  5. 5 Write the captions yourself or with the AI content generator, and schedule them on each platform.

What it does

  • Posts spread evenly across each week, platform by platform
  • Content pillars and formats rotated, weighted by your objectives
  • Promotional posts limited to at most one in five
  • Ghana's statutory public holidays and commemorative days from the Ministry of the Interior's list, with campaign ideas
  • Marketing days: Valentine's Day, National Chocolate Day, International Women's Day, Mother's Day and Black Friday
  • CSV for spreadsheets, an .ics calendar file, and print or PDF

Useful for small businesses managing their own social media, churches, schools and NGOs and social media managers planning for clients.

Limitations

  • It plans; it does not write captions or publish anything. Schedule posts on each platform or in a tool of your choice.
  • Eid al-Fitr, Shaqq Day and Eid al-Adha have no fixed date, so they are only placed on the calendar once their date has been announced.
  • A holiday can be moved to another day by government announcement. For a year whose official list we have not yet checked, confirm the day with the Ministry of the Interior.
  • Post ideas are general suggestions: adapt them to your brand and audience, and check that each format is available to your account.

How the calendar is built

You choose how many times a week you post on each platform, and the generator spreads those posts evenly across every week: three posts a week land roughly every other day, and platforms are staggered so they do not all start on the same day. Treat the days as a starting point and move posts to when your audience is most active, which each platform’s insights show.

Each post gets a content pillar (a theme), a format and an idea. Pillars rotate so each gets a fair share. Formats rotate too, weighted by your objectives:

Objective Formats it favours
Awareness Short video, carousel, educational
Engagement Poll or question, story, carousel, live
Leads Educational, live, testimonial
Sales Testimonial, short video, carousel
Community Behind the scenes, live, poll or question, story

Promotional posts are capped: at most one in five when sales is an objective, one in seven for leads, and one in ten otherwise. Most posts should give people a reason to follow you, so offers land better when they appear.

Ghana’s public holidays and commemorative days

Public holidays come from the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601) as amended, and the Ministry of the Interior publishes the list each year. The list changed recently: compared with the Ministry’s 2024 list, the 2026 list makes Republic Day (1 July) a public holiday again, names 21 September Founders’ Day, adds Shaqq Day (the day after Eid al-Fitr), and no longer includes 4 August. African Union Day (25 May) is a commemorative day: marked, but not a holiday.

Holidays are not always observed on their date. In 2026 the President declared Friday 3 July a public holiday for Republic Day, which fell on a Wednesday, and Boxing Day is observed on Monday 28 December. The calendar shows the observed day where the Ministry has announced one. For years whose list we have not yet checked, it shows the date and asks you to confirm the day.

Eid al-Fitr, Shaqq Day and Eid al-Adha have no fixed date: the Ministry says the dates are provided by the Office of the Chief Imam during the year. The calendar lists them as “date to be announced” and only places them once announced.

Planning campaigns around holidays

Each holiday or marketing day in your calendar comes with a campaign idea and a date to start preparing: a week ahead for most days, and three weeks ahead for Christmas and Black Friday. A few principles help:

  • Match the tone to the day. Religious holidays call for a respectful greeting rather than a hard sell.
  • Share opening hours. A simple post about holiday hours is useful and often well received.
  • Get permission. Testimonials, customer photos and stories need the person’s consent.
  • Make offers clear. State the dates, terms and how to order, and make sure stock and delivery can cope.

Using your calendar

Download the CSV to work on it in a spreadsheet with your team, or the .ics file to see each post in your calendar app. Then write captions with the AI content generator, size images with the social media image resizer, tag links with the UTM builder, and measure results with the engagement rate calculator.

If you would rather hand it over, our digital marketing team plans and runs social media for businesses, and we set up WhatsApp automation and messaging for campaigns that reach customers directly.

Frequently asked questions

What is a social media content calendar?

A plan of what you will post, where and when: the date, platform, format and topic of each post. It keeps posting regular, balances promotion with useful content, and gives you time to prepare for holidays and campaigns.

How many times a week should a business post?

There is no single right number: it depends on the platform, your audience and how much good content you can make. Start with a frequency you can keep up, then use each platform's insights to see what your audience responds to and adjust.

What are content pillars?

Content pillars are the few themes you post about again and again, such as product spotlights, tips, customer stories and behind the scenes. Rotating them keeps your feed varied and makes ideas easier to come up with.

What are Ghana's public holidays in 2026?

The Ministry of the Interior lists New Year's Day, Constitution Day, Independence Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day (May Day), Eid al-Fitr, Shaqq Day, Eid al-Adha, Republic Day, Founders' Day (21 September), Farmers' Day (4 December), Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with African Union Day (25 May) as a commemorative day that is not a holiday. Boxing Day 2026 falls on a Saturday and is observed on Monday 28 December.

Why are the Eid holidays not on my calendar?

Eid al-Fitr, Shaqq Day (the day after Eid al-Fitr) and Eid al-Adha are movable feasts. The Ministry of the Interior says their dates are provided by the Office of the Chief Imam during the year, so the calendar only places them once a date is announced.

Can I put the calendar into Google Calendar or Outlook?

Yes. Download the .ics file and import it into a calendar app that accepts iCalendar files: each post and campaign day becomes an all-day event. The CSV file opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
